HARTING has been a member of the nationwide pioneering initiative of Climate Protection Companies for a total of ten years. Now, the technology group has been honoured for its commitment by the Federal Environment Ministry (BMU), the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWi) and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK).
At HARTING, climate protection and production go hand in hand. “Ecological responsibility is a fundamental component of our actions”, is the motto of our corporate philosophy. Accordingly, the technology group sources 100% renewable energy at all its locations in Germany. The technology group is operating four combined heat and power plants harnessing biomethane, of which three have been upgraded to combined heat, power and cooling (CHCP) plants. The worldwide photovoltaic capacity worldwide stands at around 1.89 MWpeak. Overall, HARTING has saved an average of around 18,500 tons of CO2eq annually since the 2011/12 financial year.
“In the development of our products and solutions, climate protection is always one of our key concerns. After all, secure, consistent and efficient connectivity is essential in realising CO2 savings be realised across the entire value chain, thereby making significant contributions to achieving the climate relevant targets,” as Dr. Stephan Middelkamp, General Manager Quality and Technologies at the HARTING Technology Group underscores.
For the HARTING Technology Group, environmental and climate protection has been an integral part of its daily business since 1996. Increasing energy efficiency and environmentally friendly management are part of HARTING’s corporate philosophy. An internal environmental protection award was introduced as early as 1989.
The Espelkamp-based family business received the official certification as a “climate protection company” in July 2011 and was thereby honoured for its exceptional achievements in climate protection and energy efficiency.
