Osram’s First UV-C LEDs, Oslon UV 3636 | ELE Times

Mouser Electronics is now stocking Oslon UV 3636 LEDs from Osram Opto Semiconductors. The Oslon UV 3636, Osram’s first UV-C LEDs, boast space-saving dimensions that enable designers to incorporate them for direct sanitizing interaction in small and robust air, water, and surface disinfection and purification applications, as well as treatment and sensing.

The compact size of these UV-C LEDs and direct emission properties enable designers to implement them in direct interaction with the substance being sanitized. The direct integration into the light sources also helps to ensure that the high-energy, short-wave UV-C light does not reach the surrounding area to pose a risk to people.

Osram’s Oslon UV 3636 LEDs are available from Mouser Electronics in low- and mid-power versions, utilizing a robust ceramic package material, quartz glass cover, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. The low-power version achieves a radiant flux of 4.7 mW (typ.) at 30 mA, while the mid-power provides 42 mW (typ.) at 350 mA. Both versions offer a peak wavelength of 275 nm and a 120-degree emission angle in a compact footprint of 3.6 mm × 3.6 mm.

Applications for the Oslon UV 3636 LEDs include medical, home goods, and consumer applications, ranging from point-of-use water treatment and automotive interior disinfection to air purification in portal devices or air conditioning systems.
